Sonic Youth Book Design
I wanted to somehow translate some of the characteristics of Sonic Youth's music into a design that carried some of the same characteristics and approaches. Some of those characteristics are brutalist, layers, dissonance, angles, DIY, and organized chaos.
Over time, they were able to create their own language and approach which included modifying their own equipment, creating their own tunings, and knowing how to play off of each other and knowing how to move completely away from the structure and how to come back together.
